HISTORY
The Ipswich Divorced and Separated Club was formed in the early 1970's. It was started by a recently divorced group of people, who realised there were not too many options around at the time for people in a similar sort of situation.
Events such as small parties and coffee evenings were held, and then graduated to small village halls. This has now expanded to the much larger venues that we use today.
Over the years the membership has grown and we now welcome new members into the Club each month.
Recently the Club changed the name to include the word "Social" as we were often mistaken for a dating club, which is not the case.
The Club is run entirely with the help of voluntary members, who have joined the Committee, without these people, and without the support of the Members, we simply would not have a Club.
OUR PURPOSE
The purpose of the Club is to help you start up a new social life and create new friendships in a safe caring environment. We welcome newcomers who are: divorced, separated, widowed, those who have come out of a long term relationship and those who have been carers for many years and have not really had room in their lives for a relationship, and single people over 35. Our age group is anything from about 45 - 75 ish and although we are based in Ipswich, we have members from all around East Anglia. Membership numbers can fluctuate throughout the year from 150 - 200. We are a non-profit organisation and costs are kept as low as possible for our members, thus making it great value for all.
